Active Clubs Experience (ACE)

ace

Active Clubs Experience (ACE) aims to increase involvement of inactive children by offering a range of fun sport activities delivered with an inclusive ethos - to inspire an enthusiasm for being active throughout life.   The emphasis is placed on raising awareness and educating families on issues such as active daily lifestyles, limiting screen time and promoting 5 a day as well as being a partner on the Change 4 life and One You Leeds campaigns.   The primary target group is inactive children aged 5-13 years from super output areas with IMD's in the lowest 10% in Leeds.

In 2015/2016, ACE worked with 3234 young people of which 2143 were inactive doing less than 3 hours of activity per week.

Since ACE began, we have worked with over 8000 children through working with 70 primary schools and 3 community multi-sports clubs.

ACE work with an ethos of starting where children and young people are at.  Through offering non traditional sports activities, ACE have been highly successful at engaging young people from disadvantaged communities who may lack access to positive activities.  Providing young people with new opportunities and experiences such as interschool championships and tournaments to non sporty young people who ordinarily would not be involved in these types of activities.

Additional Services:-

  • ACE deliver holiday and half term programmes in partnership with a range of other organisations across the city and beyond.
  • We also deliver and arrange workshops and inter-school tournaments at local and regional galas and festivals such as BREEZE etc.
  • Residentials and trips
  • Peer education work
  • Project specific work using multi-sports to address wider health campaigns such as Change 4 Life and 5 A Day.
  • We can deliver accredited Sports Leadership Courses - Levels 1 & 2.

When you hire ACE, you also hire peace of mind.   All tutors and multi-sports coaches are first aid trained, safeguarding level 1 trained and are listed on the Leeds City Council's Approved Coaches list.   We provide free resources to support activities eg. boxercise equipment, hoops etc., saving you money.   Most of our tutors have a degree in sports or a related field and all are experienced teachers, however, we also have a strong community development ethos where we train young people/university/college students to deliver the programmes - these young coaches are called Sports Leaders and are trained and supported by ACE.  We can provide a very cost effective service for particular projects eg. working as assistants in large groups or delivering in pairs.
